Welcome to our home page!

The youth group at Calvary Baptist Church of Bel Air, MD is an active, fun, Christ focused group of 7-12th graders. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that Jesus Christ died for the sins of all mankind. We are committed to leading lives that honor God and reflect Christs character through worship, discipleship, fellowship and service.

Bible Study is every Sunday at 9:45am in the youth room.
Youth Night is every Friday from 7:30-10:30pm at CBC.

We have our own social network at cbcyouthgroup.ning.com

Weekend Recap- Uncharted

3.10.2008
To see TONS of pics from the weekend (thanks Tammy!) check out the web albums on the sidebar!

CBC was one of the first groups to arrive at Uncharted...rain, beltway traffic and youth leaders that don't plan as well as ours, meant that at the official start time of 7:00pm, only 17 of 63 churches had arrived!

No big deal, we played with beach balls in a sanctuary to kill time...

The conference finally kicked off with some hip-hop and gross games...after we had another chance to "throw our V's up"...

... Hawk Nelson took the stage and rocked BIG TIME!!!

Joel Engle and his team did a great job leading in worship throughout the weekend. He shared his testimony, which explained that despite never knowing his father and losing his mother at age 11...his Heavenly Father never let go...Joel was adopted by a loving family and has used his broken past along with his musical gifts to share the love of Christ around the world.

Jonathan Evans, fullback for the NFL's Buffalo Bills, spoke Friday night and extended an invitation, during which dozens of students dedicated their lives to Christ...pray that these young people get the discipling and support they need!

Saturday morning gave the students the opportunity to attend 2 breakout sessions. Some of the most popular ones for the CBC Youth were "American Idol" (for aspiring vocalists), "Athletes Only" (led by Jonathan Evans, how to live for Christ in the world of sports), "Angles of Anger" (or "Angels of Anger" according to the typo on the list...a young man shared his testimony about how God broke down the anger in his heart) and "Avoiding Mistakes" (a young woman shared about how we live with the decisions we make) and many more!

Saturday afternoon we served at Streetlite Christian Fellowship, in the Federal Hill section of Baltimore.

Our youth setup and ran a "Kid's Day" community outreach event in the worship center (see picture- down alley, through tent in a gymnasium turned worship center)

The CBC Youth did an awesome job working together, enjoy some pics:

Inside the worship center, getting a plan together...

The weather cooperated just enough for several families to stop by and have a good time...Dave and Anthony got recruited for the coldest, dirtiest job of all: drive the streets of Baltimore and pick up soaking wet bags of mud and leaves, which had been cleaned from the gutters...Dave earned himself a free "Blizzard" at dinner and Anthony earned himself this fabulous updo...

After filling up on burgers, chicken strips, Coke, fries and ice cream cake at "Dairy Queen- Grill & Chill" we headed back to Mt. Pleasant Church for the final session.

The Saturday evening session was highlighted by a challenging message from Wade Morris. He challenged us all to start living like the Christians that we say we are.

That night at the hotel we had a little group time to share lessons that we had learned that weekend, tell funny stories and then just hang out

After losing an hours sleep Saturday night, we went to the late worship service at Mt. Pleasant Church and came home.

Thanks to Mandi, Tammy and Kevin for all the help...
Thanks to the students for giving up your weekend to come to this...
Thanks to the parents and everyone who was praying for this weekend!
